2022-06-04: Major Update


This is major update for USG and contains many new features and improvements, here are some of the highlights:

Inventory

An new inventory system has been added. Now, instead of item crates being instantly used and applied when you walk over them, some types will be automatically collected and placed in your inventory. From the inventory screen (Q Key), you will be able to use any items that you have collected or scrap them for some extra components. Additionally, you will now be able to access weapon mods from the inventory screen, as well as some basic information about your current weapons and vitals.

Abilities

A new system has been added that allows the player to collect special abilities throughout the game, each with a unique beneficial effect. Abilities are sold by the new merchant NPC, so you’ll need to find him first.

Merchant

As mentioned above, there is a new merchant NPC who sells special abilities as well as a random assortment of useable items. He is friendly unless attacked and will not respawn if killed.

NPCs

Three new unique hostile NPC types, addicts, hoarders and soldiers, have been added and will spawn randomly on the map. Addicts attack on sight, Hoarders guard buildings with a larger number of item crates inside of them, and soldiers guard a specific area of a street (determined by the map generator). Take extra care when moving near soldiers, as they drop good gear but are extremely deadly.

  • Combined weapon modding menu into the new inventory user interface.
  • Default map type is now ‘city’.
  • Damage effect no longer flashes when it starts.
  • Trails effects can curve now.
  • Player now spawns inside of a random building.
  • HUD has been reworked into a more minimalistic form. Player health and stamina are now displayed around the player in the form of a ring. Weapon ammo count has been moved below the weapon menu at the top of the screen.

Fixed

  • Recoil effect not working on weapons dropped by NPCs.
  • Tesla coils attacking multiple targets at the same time.

Removed

  • Medium and large map sizes.
  • Desert and cave map types.
